Fisherman's Friend
“Lofthouses of Fleetwood can deliver our world famous product, on time and within all of the pharmaceutical restrictions placed on us.”
Business Need
Since late 2006, changes in regulations has meant that in order for the Fishermans Friend (R) tablets to be sold around the world, they needed to be manufactured in an environment controlled and maintained to the same stringent standards as those imposed on the pharmaceutical industry. In order to maintain its plant, equipment, buildings and infrastructure, Lofthouse of Fleetwood, the parent company, needed a contractor that could deliver to the level of finishes dictated by the board and the regulations, whilst working in a manner that would minimise the impact on day to day production.
The Approach
Emerald Bay Ltd had already been working as a maintenance contractor within the 3 factories, located in Fleetwood near to Blackpool for several years. However, the strict changes in the way the factory was going to work meant that the board of directors needed to be comfortable that all those parties in their supply chain were capable of delivering within these tough new guidelines. Emerald Bay’s senior management team, along with operatives, took time to reflect on the working techniques and identified the key deliverables the client would need from us. We then reviewed our own internal systems and developed these, in line with the client requirements, to enable us to propose and offer a service which not only met, but exceeded their expectations but still remained within their budget parameters.
Deliverables
Emerald Bay’s key deliverables were as follows:
- Day work maintenance through the provision of on site operatives
- Planned maintenance services – we look after the management of the planned services, sending reminders to engineering staff so works can be programmed
- Emergency maintenance and repairs – provision of staff on a day work basis to an agreed schedule or rates to undertake non-planned or predicted maintenance works
- Supply and management of sub-contract maintenance teams to carry out specialist works
- Project management of capital projects from idea to completion and handover on an open book basis
Customer Feedback
Emerald Bay’s attitude towards safety, quality and ensuring our business continues to operate unaffected when undertaking our planned and preventative maintenance ensures Lofthouses of Fleetwood can deliver our world famous product, on time and within all of the pharmaceutical restrictions placed on us
